So glad they still make it!
Date: January 14, 2010
Pros: long-lasting curls, easy to use, quick heat-up Cons: takes practice, clips can be a bit hard to snap on (at times)
"I had a Caruso system about 10 years ago that I used constantly to style my hair for theatrical productions and special occasions. I have medium-thick hair and curling irons don't always work, but this system worked perfectly. My only complaint back then was that it didn't come with enough rollers (something like 4 small, 4 medium, and 4 large). I supplemented with those cheap, clip-on foam rollers but the effect was never the same. When I discovered today's Caruso, I quickly snatched it up. I plan to use it for my wedding hairstyle as well as daily styling. Super easy to use, quick, plus now with a total of 30 rollers in 5 sizes! Curls won't fall out or even come out when wetting down your hair - you seriously have to soak your hair and use shampoo before the curl comes out! Getting the look you want does take practice, but once you've got the right curling tactic, you'll never use another system :)"

I love it!!
Date: January 13, 2010
"I used these rollers on my natural 4a/b hair after pressing it. I used the rollers and left them in for about 20mins and had beautiful curls. I then pincurled afterwards, went to bed and woke up with nice bouncy curls :) this was definitely a great investment"

So-So Curls
Date: December 16, 2009
Pros: hair friendly, easy to use, quick heating Cons: curls don't last all day
"The Caruso Steam Hairsetter is a so so purchase for me. I have medium length caucasian hair, with layers varying from 6" to 18" and a bit of natural curl that is blow dried out. It took a while to find a setting pattern I liked, but once I did, I was fairly pleased with the results. Unlike hot rollers, these do not burn your hands when you touch them (but the steam can so be cautious!), and they're easy to roll up. I have a problem where the covers push against my hair no matter how I snap them on and leave a ridge that I then have to use a curling or straightening iron to coax out, which kind of defeats the purpose.
The extra body in my hair lasts all day, but the curls start falling out immediately, and never last more than 4-5 hours. Only the ends get truly curly, there isn't much wave through the majority of the hair.
It is great for foundation curls for updos and vintage does (eg victory rolls), and a nice break from hot rollers though, which are very damaging to your hair. I'll still reach for my hot rollers when I need something to last."

Amazing! I LOVE these!!
Date: December 7, 2009
Pros: bouncy curls, moisturizing shine, long lasting curls
"I bought my first set of these back in the late 1980's and used them until they literally fell apart. I thought they had been discontinued, so I tried all types of hot rollers, irons, etc but nothing worked as well as the steam rollers and no curls lasted as long.
A friend of mine with long thick hair down to her waist told me one day what her secret was - I was shocked to have her tell me she used the caruso steam rollers every other day!!! I asked her where she got hers and she said to go to sally beauty. Needless to say I hit one on the way home and happily snagged my 2nd set.
The next day I used them just as I had years before and they worked like a charm!! Full bouncy curls that lasted 2 days!! I had to wash the curls out!!! My hair is long and thick and they are amazing. I also bought a set of extra rollers to have on hand in case mine fall apart again :-D An added bonus is the steam conditions the hair and does not dry it out like using other methods"

Great Styling Option without Heat!
Date: December 6, 2009
"If you are looking for a healthy way to have lasting curls without using any heat styling or hot tools, this is the best option! It does not take long, the curls do last the entire day. My hair is relaxed, thick and coarse, and these rollers give me smooth, bouncy curls. My recommendation would be to use a spray gel and end papers to help combat frizz and help the curls last."

Not just for gals!
Date: April 27, 2009
Pros: easy to set; curls last all day
"My son has long thick hair just to his shoulders and I've been looking for a way to style it (that he'll put up with) for years. I finally got him to let me start roller setting his hair. I've tried various methods -- hot rollers, velcros, even sleeping overnight in soft curlers. The Caruso steam hairsetter is the best curling system I've found for him. I do his hair most mornings in medium rollers. It takes about 10 mins. to put him in rollers and then he wears them while he gets ready for school (his sister loves seeing him in curlers!) The Caruso rollers give him soft body and wave and I have a lot of flexibility in how I style his hair after curling it (down, back in a headband, up in a curly ponytail, etc.) The girls love his hair dos and he won't leave the house without his hair curled. I recommend these curlers for anyone, male or female, who wants an easy way to get volume and waves!"

Excellent
Date: March 9, 2009
"I have very fine, limp, straight hair. My hair usually doesn't hold a curl for more than an hour. When using the Caruso steam hair setter my hair stays curled all day long, even without putting ANY products in it! Its extrememly easy to use. You don't have to wait a half hour for your curlers to get hot, like you would a traditional set, and they also set much faster than regular hot curlers."

Easy & Fast
Date: February 5, 2009
"The Caruso steamer is a fast and easy way to curl your hair without burning it like a curling iron does. Even though it does not steam as well as the older model, it does the job. I had to get use to unpluging the whole on the bottom with a pen because it gets clogged to where the steam will not come out. The older model, I never had to deal with clogging."

Outstanding hairsetter
Date: December 16, 2008
Pros: long lasting curls, quick and easy, rollers do not burn your scalp
"I have been using the Caruso hairsetter for over 20 years. Unlike regular hairsetters which can burn your scalp with hot rollers, these rollers NEVER burn your head. My fine hair achieves bouncy curls that last for days. After 19 years, my original (salt required) unit finally gave out and I replaced it with this one. Having been using this one for over a year with great results. It is important to keep your hairsetter clean and steaming properly by adding one tablespoon of vinegar to the water and running it through a cleaning cycle every 20 uses. I just bought a back up unit because I do not know what I would do without this hairsetter. It is the best. Regular hairsetters take at least 10 minutes to heat up and toast your hair. This hairsetter is ready to go in just 2-3 minutes and results in long lasting curls and shiny hair."

Good Product when it works
Date: August 1, 2008
Cons: do not last long before it completely quits
"I have had 4 of these Caruso Steam Curlers and the first one I had was the style that you had to add salt to the water for it to work. I still have this one. I bought the newest style awhile back. One set lasted about 1 year. The second set lasted about 6 months. The last one lasted 2 months. I took it back to Sally's and they were kind enough to take it back and refund my money since I had had it for less than 3 months. The curlers work great. But they are not worth purchasing because they will not work long."

Good When It Works
Date: July 27, 2008
"I've purchased three of these in the last few months. The longest I've had one last is 6 months. I love the product when it works, but keeping it working is the biggest problem. I hate it when I'm halfway through getting ready for work and the steam just stops!!! If they could figure out a way to get it to work on a consistent basis, there wouldn't be a better product on the market and I'd recommend it to everyone I know!"

A great buy
Date: July 12, 2008
"This was one of the best buys in styling products that I ever made. I don't think that I could go back to regular hot rollers. Steam rollers are very good for your hair and they are fast and easy to use. I love the results that I get after using them. I highly recomend them."

Caruso Rollers
Date: July 11, 2008
Pros: easy to use, fast
"I just purchased these after reading many reviews on this product. I wanted to achieve curls without having to use a curling iron, something fast and easy. This product fits the description. I used the rollers three times already and every time I use them, I get better results. This set has a nice amount of rollers, so there is really not need to purchase extra (in my opinion). I would recommend this product."

wonderful curls when works
Date: July 9, 2008
"When the appliance is working it makes wonderful curls and is one of the best hair appliances for damaged hair.... I have purchased at least 6 of these in the past years..... They just do not last...the last one I purchased lasted only 3 months before it exploded... be very careful while using this product.... I was hoping that this time it would last a little longer... otherwise it is a super hair styler...."

Great product!
Date: May 21, 2008
Pros: i'm able to create multiple looks
"You get very loose waves if you use the large rollers, and spiral curls with the small ones. Whenever I use these rollers, the curls last all day as long as I don't comb my hair after I take them out. It's best to finger comb."
