Pros: inexpensive, seals the hair cuticle
"I decided to dye my hair black for the first time on my own and went with the Ion Brilliance Semi-permanent color. I wanted to get all the items necessary to achieve the best/healthy looking hair. This product does exactly what it says. It closes the cuticle INSTANTLY. After letting the color process for 25 minutes and rinsing I could tell that the cuticles on my hair were extremely raised and my hair was feeling mighty rough. I rubbed this stuff through out my hair after I removed the excess water and could feel my hair go from being very rough to smooth. WHEEWWW!!! Because I was worried at first. It is definitely worth the money to know that you are not damaging your hair. I will probably only get two usage amounts out of it, but thats okay!!!! Will definitely purchase this again when I re-color."

"I love this product and wouldn't color without it! I have trouble with my color turning very brassy towards the end. With this product my tone stays much better, and I only color once every 8 weeks rather than every 4-6. Definitely extends the life of my color."

"I have straight, thick hair and this definitely locked in the color. I used it with the Ion Permanent Creme colors and my color is just as rich as it was a month ago (perhaps a hint of fade but thats to be expected). I also used this with the Ion Color Defense shampoo. I would definitely recommend it."

Didnt lock hair color

"I have dyed my hair six days ago and it's still fading. I have used this product as directed but it didnt work for me. I'm not sure if it was because I have straight hair or if it was the hair color I used I all I know this product was suppose to lock the hair color but it didn't."

"I color my hair very frequently, mostly color that are unnatural demi-permanents like blue, pinks, purples etc. I use this every time after I color and it helps the color last much longer! I could only image what it would do for permanent colors"
