Smooth, efficiant, wonderful value. A++++ Date: November 12, 2009
"As a cometologist, I bought a GVP after my fomer flat iorns didn't hold up. The others had snagged hair, caused split ends ( from snags and "popping" fine hair off), and just did not do the job they were supossed to do. My GVP has not let me down once! It has been a tool that is definatly worth my hard earned money! If fact, I am planning on buying two more- one for myself at home and the other for a good friend of mine. Thank you GVP for a Fantastic tool!"

Pros: straightens as good as the top of the line
Cons: gets very hot to the touch

"I have curly hair and it has always been hard to straighten. My Beautician recommended this straightener knowing I am on a tight budget and she wasn't kidding. It is absolutely awesome. It gets my straight, it still has volume, and I would buy it again."

Stopped Working Over The Years. Date: October 24, 2009
"Got this product about two years ago. When I first got it, it worked perfectly. I have nice soft hair, but it doesn't get to my roots the way it use to. So I'm probably gonna go back and buy a new one because I really did like it."

Love It Date: October 20, 2009
Pros: gets hot, straightens, adds shine, does not pull, makes hair soft and silky, loved it!!!
Cons: may get too hot watch the tempature!!

"I bought this product and as soon as I got home I tried it out. I am mixed and have beautiful curls. It made my hair perfectly straight. I have used the CHI, the ION, and many more but this one is way better. I am still trying to figure out how to make curls with it. LOL. Once I figure that out I will make a second review on that. I bought the pink one because the black was too plain. LOVED IT!!!"

Amazing little straightener. Date: October 12, 2009
Pros: heats up quickly, adjustable heat setting, leaves hair shiny and smooth, great at creating curls

"I've had a lot of different straighteners and nothing has been able to top the GVP flat-iron. I really wanted to be able to curl and straighten my hair with one product and kept hearing reviews about how great the Chi product was. Unfortunately, the price was not great for my budget, so I went ahead and took a chance on the GVP and I'm so glad I did.
The problem with the Chi compared to the GVP is that you cannot adjust the heat setting on the Chi. The GVP ranges between 200 and 410 degrees, so you can straighten the thick sections of your hair or just your bangs.
It's also amazing at creating curls, as advertised. Once I figured out the technique, there's no way I'm going back to my curling iron. It leaves my hair incredibly smooth and shiny.
It does snag on my hair a bit, but I don't believe this is the fault of the straightener. Snags come from either holding the flat-iron too tightly, using too high of a heat, or not using a heat protectant on your hair. My hair is fairly dry, so I have to make sure to use a product before straightening and I've only encountered snags when I didn't do this.
This product isn't remarkably better than the Chi, I would say they're about equal to one another. However, the GVP product is much cheaper and I would definitely recommend this version for those not wanting to break the bank on a flat-iron.

"I am extremely disappointed about this flat iron. I have vey curly hair and based on reviews thought I have found the perfect hair straightener. I'm addicted to hair straighteners and buy a few a year. This one doesn't do anything better than the cheap ones I have bought. Belson Rheostat for 30 bucks worked a lot better. This didn't leave my hair smooth, did not leave it frizz free, and snagged my hair. When I bought it, the sales lady said that she gets this one returned about 75% of the time and didnt recommend it. I still bought it because of the reviews and didn't let her dissuade me from getting it. Have had it for 2 weeks now and I am returning it."

Love it!! Date: October 1, 2009
Pros: works as good as a chi for less money, easy to control, lasts a long time even with daily usage

"I bought one for my daughter when she was in the 7th grade, she is now a HS senior and it still works great. It needs to be replaced only because she has dropped it so many times that the framework that holds the plates has broken and the plates are loose. I will be replacing it with another GVP"

Disappointed! Date: September 28, 2009
Pros: inexpensive
Cons: takes forever

"I'm so disappointed in this flat iron! I had such high hopes for an iron with a reasonable price tag that could actually perform well. In this economy I think it's imperative for companies to offer consumers products for a much more affordable price, products that actually work. If you have the time this iron will straighten your hair but you better have twice the amount of time you used to. I'm going back to the CHI, it's worth it. My time is worth the extra 50 bucks!"

Does it's job well X2 Date: September 16, 2009
Pros: everything good about it

"I have had my GVP Flat Iron for over 2 years. I have naturally curly hair, so it's hard to straighten. I've had no problem since I bought this iron. It still gets as hot today as it did the day I bought it. I use it every day. I have soft, straight, no-frizz, or no burnt hair. But it don't stop there. My grandaughter lives with me. She has hair more curly than mine. It is the impossible hair, unless you want curls everywhere. She also uses the iron every day since I purchased it. So it gets a workout. We keep it clean & the cord never twisted. Going to start on 3rd year soon."

works great! Date: August 25, 2009
"I bought this yesterday because my old flat iron broke. Anyways, I used it with Beyond The Zone heat protection spray and I am just going to say, if I would have found this earlier, I would not have cut my hair off. I have really dry and bleached hair and it was looking pretty bad when I used the flat iron, which I use everyday, so I cut it a few months ago and I miss my hair. I wish I would have got it before I cut it all off."

Works great-awesome Date: August 25, 2009
Pros: quick-stays hot, price is great, pink is coolest
Cons: none-works great

"My stylists have always told me I have the THICKEST hair they have ever seen, Thick in volume & the strands are very thick & wavy. This flat iron is the ticket- no other iron works this well. Heats up quick, stays hot, my hair stays straight for days even in the rain. My hair comes out soft as silk, no snags or breaking, Now I have
the hair all my friends want- soft, straight,
shiny- BEST of all- does my hair quickly, used to take 40 mins- now 15 and done!!!

Disappointed Date: August 23, 2009
"I had bought this as a back up flat iron. I origionally had a CHI years ago, I used it all the time so after a year and a half it just started to go dead. I bought a Paul Mitchell one to replace since the CHIs are no longer made with quality. This I thought would be a great back up. At first it was awesome, my hair hadn't been that flat in a LONG time.. I always use a heat protectant but after a while it didn't seem like it was doing anything (only after a month's worth of time). I just went back to my Paul Mitchell one and it made a huge difference. I have very frizzy/colored hair and just really was disappointed. I guess I just had high hopes. It seems it strips your hair of any moister (I did a protein treatment and that didn't help) and becomes useless. I do use a flat iron EVERYDAY... So for those that might not use one everyday I would say you might want to give this 1 a shot, otherwise I don't recommend it. I just ordered a 1inch Sedu the other day because I really want to be able to use it as a styling tool rather then just an iron, my Paul Mitchell doesn't do curls and flips easily."

Good for hair, doesnt work Date: August 22, 2009
Pros: no damage!!
Cons: doesnt straighten well

"This product definitely does not damage hair. It actually made mine feel softer and shinier! however, i was displeased with the straightening quality.i bought this product under the impression it would work just like a chi straightener. it doesnt. it still leaves your hair slightly wavy, and when its exposed to humidity it goes back to its original texture."

WISH I KNEW ABOUT THIS B/4 MY CHI! Date: August 18, 2009
Pros: inexpensive to the big named flat irons, temperature control, heats up fast, easy to clean, exceeded expectations
Cons: the tip can get hot to the touch

"O.K. here's my story, I have natural African American hair. It is not course, but it is extremely curly; if you know anything about hair types, I have a mix of 3C/4a; 3C for the whole head except the crown is mixed with 4a. I only straighten my hair maybe 2 -3 times a year, if that much. I don't like to travel with my most expensive hair tools. I had my Chi for nearly 2 years and wanted a new flat iron to travel with but really was not wanting to pay another $150+ for something I RARELY use. Being the avid Sally Shopper I am, I saw the GVP display, and was second guessing, thinking, Humph, there is NO WAY this could be as good as my Chi. I thought $59.99, & Sally's return policy, what could I lose? I took it home and straightened one side of my hair with the Chi and the other side with the GVP. Let me tell ya somthin'...I couldn't tell the difference. The only thing I hate is Sally's, just like Chi, comes out with new colors every season, and I want to exchange my current one for a new color. I followed all of my girlfriends and what they told me about the Chi and fell into the hype. Folks, GVP is an AWESOME performing iron. I really wish I had found out about it before I purchased my Chi, it's just as good and costs less than 1/2 of what I paid for my Chi."

My favorite flat iron!!!!! Date: August 9, 2009
Pros: the best flat iron that i have used!, wonderful designs!, long cord!

"After so much research and constantly thinking about which flat iron to purchase, I made a smart move and ordered this iron via Sally's website. I have been so pleased with this flat iron. I can tell the difference between this iron and another that I had purchased a year ago. I love to style my family/friends hair with this flat iron because the ending results are superior! Trust me and purchase the GVP flat iron. This flat iron makes my daughter virgin hair look relaxed and it lasts for 2 weeks or more. I feel like I could do a power point presentation on the pros of this flat iron. Job well done GVP!!!!"

The jury's still out for now! Date: July 14, 2009
Pros: heats quickly, softens hair, doesn't pull hair
Cons: pricey

"I read the review's and did the research. I couldn't justify spending 60 bucks for a flat iron. But the sales lady recommended this iron, said it was hands down the best in the store. The price was a big turnoff. So I had to wait for a coupon to get it. I have not regretted it so far. It leaves my hair soft, shiny and curly for days. My only concern is if it will work well after my perm wears off and my hair gets really thick again."
