Great flat iron

"I have owned this flat iron for 6-7 years. Today I had to throw it out. All in all it was a good purchase. I'm debating on taking a chance with a CHI but leaning towards purchasing another GVP."

Greatest Flat Iron Ever

"I absolutely love this flat iron. I purchased my first one in February of 2008. I still own the same one and it works as it did the first day I bought it. I will invest in another as my daughter is now old enough to use one and wants her own...all the more reason for mommy to get the new one and child gets the hand me down.
This is well worth the price and you will not be sorry you purchased it."

"This was a Christmas gift for my daughter, she always buys really cheap products that don't last. She really likes this straightener, now I'll just have to see how long it lasts. My experience says it was worth what I paid for it!"

"My older brother got me this flat iron last Christmas along with Beyond The Zone Turn Up The Heat protectant spray. I have very curly hair and after I get out of the shower my dries so puffy it looks like I have an afro! It's usually hard for my hair to stay straight. I've had other 'good' straighteners in the past, but this straightener makes not only my hair straight, but silky when I flat iron my hair! After this straightener goes I am defenitely sticking with the GVP brand for my flat irons."

Just what I was looking for

Pros: heats very quickly, adds body, leaves my hair silky and shiny, does not pull hair, straight hair lasts all day

"I bought this flat iron (in the metallic purple) after the sales clerk recommended it. I spent a little over $60 but also recieved a free blow dryer and a free mini flat iron. I have used several different brands, worst being Conair, it was awful.. would shut off in the middle of use,pulled my hair, and wouldnt give me the results I was looking for. The best being a Corioliss I got at a kiosk in the mall. I fell in love with it and was looking for something similar. This GVP is it! It cuts waaay back on the time it takes me to straighten my hair, leaves my hair so very soft and shiny, AND adds volume (which I have not gotten from any other brand!) I love that you can curl with it also! It is neck and neck with Corioliss but at a portion of the price."

Great flat iron

"This was recommended by the Sales Clerk in the store. I was looking at more expensive one but she said she herslef had this one and it was a great flat iron. So I bought it... I old one had quit working and i was in desperate need of a new one. I'm so glad I bought this one it works great. Heats up quickly, and leaves my hair very soft and very straight, also found that I can add some curl and body with this Iron as well. Doesn't leave my hair smelling burnt. and Glides very smoothly through my hair. It's great."

Had This Straightener for Years!!

"I had this straightener for probably about 4 years and I have not had any problems with it whatsoever. It works greats, and keeps my hair straight ALL DAY without any other products (if used on highest temperature).
I have never had any kind of hair appliance last that long and I'm really pleased overall!! I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!!"

"I love it. I have had mine for 3 years now. I received a Chi as a gift. I like GVP MUCH better. I have my Chi for just in case, but I use my GVP 99.9% of the time. The Chi I take to work for "just in case" only. I do unplug the GVP when I am finished fixing my hair. There is no automatic shut off and I have left it on once all day while I was at work."

"This flat iron is amazing! I was really not sure if i wanted to try this product at first. I've been using a chi flat iron for about 4 years now but they kept breaking. I've been threw 5 or 4 of them in the past 4 years that I was not willing to bye another one especially that it was so expensive and did not hold out. I read so many good reviews on this flat iron, that I was very willing to try it! I have normal, wavy hair and wanted something that would keep my hair straight, that would leave it soft,smooth and would also curl it from time to time. This flat iron does just that!!!!! I love it! It works just like a chi! Just for less the price. I haven't had it for that long so i cant say if it does last longer than my previous chi's but i think its money well spent!!!!!!! (:"

Really gets rid of the "frizzies"

"Before I got this straightener, I had a conair one that didn't work very well (at least for my kind of hair). I have straight, frizzy, red hair, and if you or someone you know is a redhead, you would know that if ONE hair is out of place your whole head looks like a mess. I used this right after I got out of the pool, and my hair looked so silky and smooth! I was amazed! :)"

Pros: set your own temp!!, half the cost of a chi which has no temp settings!
"LOVE this GVP flat iron! I have EXTREMELY naturally curly hair, course and frizzy. All the time trying new products trying to find "that one" that will do it for me. I love this flat iron, it straightens my hair like you wouldn't believe! It literally looks like those commercials you see on tv when one side is frizzy and curly and the other is flat and shiny, thats what mine does! I have had this for over a year and use it regularly, never had a problem with it at all. In fact I have seen where some have said you HAVE to use a protectant or some sort of product before flat ironing, I can use nothing and it still works great! In fact all I do is use the Bio Silk shamp and cond then put in a tiny bit of the silk therapy, blow dry and flat iron. LOVE IT!"

"The lady at Sally's recommended the GVP flat iron. I would not recomend this product! Mine lasted for less than a year and I seldom used it! I did not buy the warranty becasue I do not use it that much. I ill never buy this product again! Your staff needs to stop recommending this product! or quit selling it."

"this was my first "real" flat iron. I had gone to sallys about 2 years ago looking for a CHI straightener, but they reccomended a GVP straightener. I had been using a cheap revlon $20 straightener before that, it was not good for my hair. So after that one broke, i bought this one (except it was blue). It was great. Heats up quick, temperature adjustable, long cord and it didn't damage my hair like my TOOL SCIENCE ion straightener does. I really miss my GVP straightener. It broke a year after buying it (that was my fault i think. i dropped it alot and it got knocked off the counter alot.)
Definately would reccomend to people looking for a really really good budget straightener. I have used a chi and a croc and even FHI, but i think this one works better +makes hair shiny, super straight and soft with minimal damage. It took a little longer because i have thick wavy/curly hair, but much better results. I may cave and buy another one of these soon. Really good for short hair."

"When I purchased the GVP Black Ceramic Flat Iron I needed it for a special occasion and I figured it would gather dust on a shelf. Boy was I wrong! I have naturally wavy and sometimes curly hair and I thought I would Never be able to have a straight cut. With this flat iron I am able to have my hair lie flat and look the way I want. I love this flat iron and now three years later I am replacing it with the same model.
If you buy the GVP Black Ceramic Flat Iron you will not be sorry."

Cons: damaged my hair
"I was at Sally's one day and saw this. I figured it wouldn't hurt to buy a new straightner, since I share one with my mom. I have really thick, wavy hair. After using this straightner for a few weeks, my hair became brittle, dry, fried, and stiff. It had no shine. I was literally in tears because of it. And yes, I do use heat protectant. So I stopped using the straightner. Now my hair looks back to normal and shiny. THIS WILL DRY YOUR HAIR!!! I wouln't recommend to people with hair like mine."

"I've had my GVP flat iron for a little over 3 years and it's still works as good as the first day I purchased it! I used to use the Revlon 2 in 1 curler/flat iron but the hinge kept breaking and I would have to keep buying a replacement.
I went to Sally Beauty Supply and they had this one for the same price it is now ($59.99). I bought the camo-pink design which I loved. And I've been using it ever since! It heats up quick, and the best part is that even after years of use, the hinge hasn't broken! And I use it on a DAILY basis. My 14 yr old son even uses it to straighten his hair. And agrees that in comparison to the one his Grandmother has, the GVP is WAY BETTER! I'm totally satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wants something that is worth the money!"

"I purchased this flat iron after the one that I had toppped heating up. I wanted to get a CHI, but just could not justify the price. After reading the reviews online and speaking with the salesclerk at the store, I purchased the GVP 1". I am so glad that I did. I have natural 4b hair and this iron works great. The time that I had previously spent flat ironing my hair has been drastically reduced and it comes out bouncy and without a burnt smell. I love it!!!!"

"Okay well first I purchased an FHI technique flat iron that didnt really straighten my hair and it didnt get hot at all! Then I went and bought a GVP tattoo limited edition which heated up but as soon as I used it once the paint started to melt into my hair. Finally I went and exchanged it I wasnt going to purchase another one but the sales girl told me to try the all black with the gold plates and I am happy she did the newer model heats up to 420 straightens my hair really quickly (my hair is curly) feels really sturdy and I was able to purchase a warranty for it I love it!!! If you are looking for a good flat iron for cheap this is it!!"
