Keeps me blonde.
Date:May 20, 2013
Pros: not dusty, doesn't smell horrible
"As a bleach, this product does what it should. I've found that it doesn't smell as foul as other bleaches and it's generally less damaging. It's helpful that it's blue in color as well so your hair doesn't turn bright orange (unless you have very dark hair or bright red dyed hair, possibly).
As for those saying their hair felt fried, try a bleach bath instead of a full-on bleaching. I do this every time and it is MUCH less frying than the straight up method. I mix a 2:1 ratio of a clear (or white) shampoo and bleach (prepared as instructed) and apply it the same as traditional. This method allows you to really rub the mixture into your scalp to ensure evenness without hurting your scalp. Bleach baths are good for a slight lift, are less damaging, offer more even results, and can be done maybe once a week if you're daring. If you do this often, I'd recommend a deep conditioning treatment or babying your hair after every application and trimming every few weeks to keep split ends down."

Great Powder bleach
Date:May 6, 2013
Pros: easy to use, 1:2 mix ratio, nice results
Cons: dry/frizzy hair, uneven results on streaks
"I got the 1oz packet size of this and mixed it with 2oz of level 30% developer also from ION. I mixed this in a bottle because I didn't have a bowl handy and yes it was very thick and hard to come out--but I used my gloves to scoop it out. I did not use this on my scalp or head, only the lower part of my hair to get that Ombre effect all the celebrities are doing. I parted my hair in half and did one half at a time. To make sure it coated evenly I used a plastic comb and combed in the bleach to make sure everything was even. I left this on for the max one hour and then rinsed this out and used ION's Intense Moisture Conditioner which my hair just drank up! Once out of the shower I could tell a difference right away. This made my medium-light ash blonde hair very pale so the Ombre worked! On one side of my head I did have a Titanium streak (from ION Color Brights) so the bleach made that part more of a peach blonde which does stand out a bit from the other blonde. So if you have streaks/highlights the results will be different than the rest of your hair after processing. I'm thinking I might have to do another round of bleach or put that Titanium streak back in since I still have some of that grey on the upper half of my hair so it doesn't really blend in as well as the other side does. Overall this was easy to use, even if it was super thick. I used pretty much the whole thing so if you have long/thick hair you will need more than one packet. The processing was easy and the results came out right away. Only down-side is this did make my hair very dry and kinda frizzy plus with my streaks the results were uneven since one side is peachy and the other is more white looking. Since I did not use this on my roots or new growth I cannot comment on how this bleach works on that. For a first time try with this exact bleach I would say it is worth buying! Next time I need bleach for anything I will go for this first."

best bleach ever
Date:January 14, 2013
Pros: gentle, great color, fast even lift, no harsh smell, good value, fool-proof
"I am amazed by this bleach-seriously. So, here is my story. I play around with hair color a lot and I usually stick with lighter colors, but every once in a while I go a lot darker, and each time I've had to bleach the dye out, my hair came out wrecked, but nothing other than bleach works for me to remove the color. I recently dyed my hair medium brown, and though the color was pretty, it was so not my color, but I was really hesitant about bleaching again. I decided on a shampoo cap (bleach diluted with shampoo, which is gentler and offers less lift, which was fine by me, I would be happy with a light brown for now) but still, bleach is bleach and seeing as my hair was already bleached under the dark hair dye, I was really scared of damaging it. Though my hair can be quite dry, one thing I am happy to say is that it is not damaged and brittle, and I did not want to jeopardize that. Since I was going to color over my hair anyway, I was totally ok with a patchy, day-glo orange outcome, I just wanted something gentle and to lift out the dark brown, and all the reviews for this bleach said it was gentle, so I chose this one. Well I'm floored. Not ONLY is my hair in amazing shape (seriously it seems better than when I used demi color) but the color came out FANTASTIC! Just from a stupid shampoo cap! I don't even have to recolor, and I was fully prepared to recolor tomorrow morning. Now about the condition of my hair, my ends, which had gone through 2 bleach sessions in the past year, are COMPLETELY HEALTHY. Not one split end in sight, which is almost unheard of for bleach. And I didn't use any special treatment or anything, just the conditioner that comes in box-dye kits. My hair is not only not even the slightest bit damaged, but it is not even dry. That's like- what?! In previous experiences bleach has always left my hair gummy, but here it's like- untouched. And the color is exactly like my natural color, dark, very warm/golden but NOT red/orange blonde. I still kind of want to go completely blonde in the future, but right now I'm really digging this color. But when I do, I'll be using this bleach. Also, I have asthma/allergies and the smell of this was not too strong, didn't bother me at all. For reference, I used 20V clairol pure white developer. Oh, and one more thing, it worked in like 10 minutes, it probably would have lifted more if I let it sit longer, but I got all the lift I need in 10 minutes."

"I absolutely love this bleach!!. I bleach my hair alot!! Sometimes i do just a bleach cap, which is shampoo mixed with bleach and conditioner, just to lift out a darker color from my hair a litte, and every single time i have ever used this bleach, it has never, ever damaged my hair!!!. And it does not have a strong smell to it either!!!. Overall a very good bleach, and i always buy it by the 1lb tub. Well worth the price!!!."

Terrific lightener!
Date:October 29, 2012
Pros: works fast lifts nicely creamy consistency
Cons: strong smell
"I have been double processing my own hair (with the help of my hubby for the back of my head) for just over 2 months now (3 times total). Before, I had been bringing my own lightener (Salon Care) to the salon and paying the hairstylist to do it for me. When my hubby said he would help me with the back of my head, I decided to save money and we would do it at home instead. This last time, I decided to purchase the Ion Powder Lightener, as I have read some great reviews, and it seemed as though it would not be tough on my scalp. Plus, I have been using the Ion developer for a while and I really love it. So I thought I would give this brand a try for their lightener too, as it was also on sale for the 1-pound tub.
My hair is in excellent condition. I take very good care of it, and most of the time I condition-wash it instead of using shampoo. I also do not wash it every day. In fact, my stylist is always impressed when I go for haircuts, that I do not have any breakage even though I double process my hair at home. That said, I had also been growing out old highlights, and then my previous stylist had done a high lift blonde on me which came out too brassy so I knew I had to pre-lighten and tone. I have natural level 6-7 hair, but it pulls gold when lightened. This Ion lighener lightens my roots (5 weeks worth of regrowth) within 30 minutes to the pale yellow stage necessary for me to tone. In addition, I put some of it (not a fresh batch, but what was leftover in the plastic bowl) onto the ends of my hair that are still slightly brassy from old color and highlighting, during the last 5 minutes of processing.I know, risky, but I did not end up with any damage or breakage from this!
I ended up with pale yellow hair, but very yellow. This always happens, and I tone. I used a permanent haircolor with 10 volume to tone.
The only thing that happened that i didn't expect from this lightener was that it itched while on my scalp. This always used to happen to me when I used single process color, and slightly when I used Salon Care bleach. It was a little more of an itch this time, but nothing earth shattering, and definitely more tha tolerable. I also thought this lightener smelled pretty strong. I didn't expect it to smell as strong as it did. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. I will definitely continue to use it, and would recommend it for double process blonding. It just depends on the starting point, how much dryness and damage you have to begin with. Definitely a great product...I mixed it with Ion Sensitive Scalp 20-Volume developer and it worked great!"

Awesome Bleach Product!
Date:October 9, 2012
Pros: smells great, not so damaging, cost, fast lift
"Hello my fellow DIY colorist. This bleach is amazing. I made it my task to dye my from the darkest brown(level 2) to an ash blonde. After weeks of research and reading through hundreds of reviews, I found this bleach. Everyone made it seem not to be as scary as all those other bleach's. This one barely damages your hair and does not have an overpowering fragrance to it, it actually smells fruity. It works quite quickly too. I brought my hair up to an orange tint and then used revlon's ash blonde as a toner, since it was a blue base and blue base colours cancel out orange tints. Next time will buy bigger than 1lb!!"

Works great!
Date:October 8, 2012
Pros: gentle
"It's a lot more gentle than most bleach. It lightens my hair quick also. After about 15 minutes, it was already lightened to a very light blond, but it does depend on the color of your hair. It also has a nice smell, and has a light bluish color. I used to buy different brands but I now buy this one only because it works best. It worked exactly how I expected it to work. It's not THAT damaging either."

Best bleach i have used so far!:)
Date:August 19, 2012
"ive used manic panic flah lightening bleach kit and that worked pretty decent. i dye my hair crazy colors often so i needed ableach that didnt do very much damage and worked well. this bleach is amazing, it took my hair from red/brown to a very pale orange, im trying to get white so itll probably take me a few times. but this product barely damaged my hair and you get a lot for the price. i mixed with ion 30 vol developer and left it in for about an hour and washed it out with shampoo then used ion repair solutuions to comdition my hair"

Review 13 for Ion Color Brilliance Powder Lightener 1 lb. Tub
Cons: not enough lift w/high developer, don't use with level 6 or below
"I am a professional and used to stronger bleaches but I wanted to try something less expensive and gentle since I was applying on myself for home use. I had to apply the bleach twice to get a more consistent all over lift, which is normal but this product takes forever to lift! My hair feels somewhat dry but not brutally damaged *thumbs up*. I still have too many orange tones in my hair and I was a level 7 to begin with, with multiple level 9 highlights throughout my hair so to me brassiness in unacceptable, especially when using 30V. I only paid $4.00 for this and $2.49 for the developer and you get quite a large amount of product for the price. This is seriously the lowest price I've ever seen hair bleach at! I would recommend for mannequin use or golden highlights on a level 8+ but not for an all over lifting. Not a terrible product by no means but this professional will not repurchase for the purpose that I needed it for."

Bleachy
Date:July 19, 2012
Pros: consistent color, non-damaging
Cons: smell, sensitive scalp, itchy
"This is my first time bleaching my hair at home. I decided on the ion line because of reviews saying it is less damaging. I mixed the bleach 2 scoops of powder, 2 scoops of volume 30 creme developer & 1 tsp of moraccan oil. I let it sit for 45 minutes. Wash out. It did a great job on getting a pretty consistent color considering i had two different blondes foiled in my hair. My hair isn't as damaged as i had expected. It's still soft and shiny. I highly recommend this bleach. The olnly downside is it smells very strong and my scalp was a little sensitive the next day."

My "Holy Grail" Bleach
Date:July 4, 2012
Pros: smells good floral & fruity, works fast on virgin hair, high lift, violet-toned bleach, gentle on scalp and hair, dust-free drip-free
Cons: can be a challenge to wash out, leaves a residue if not washed out thoroughly, may require more than one shampooing
"This stuff is amaze-balls! Incredible. And, believe me the positives definitely outweigh the negatives when I say this. Buy the BIG tub and you won't regret it.
I am the type of person who loves changing my haircolor almost with the seasons. I am naturally a brunette with level 5 ash brown hair. I previously colored my hair with Ion's level 3 dark red brown. I wanted a change and wanted to go back to blonde. So, I broke out my big tub of Ion bleach and Ion's 30 vol developer and went to town on my hair. I have a very sensitive scalp so I added three packets of Comfort & Care, and one packet of Ardell Red/Gold Corrector Plus, and a few drops of One n' Only Argan Oil. Mixed it all up, applied it to my head using bowl & brush, and left it on a total of 45 minutes.
After shampooing THOROUGHLY, I towel-dried my hair and let it air dry. My result was a gold/yellow stage, decolorized hair, it was gold-brassy. There was no red in my hair just gold/yellow. So, I decided I was happy enough with this and continued on to toning my hair. One bleaching was enough for me, at this time. So, I used my favorite drugstore box haircolor which is a high-lift, extra light ASH blonde haircolor. My end result was a very light borderline neutral-ash blonde color. I love it, it is so pretty and I couldn't be any happier.
The only negative issue I have about this bleach is that it is hard to wash out. For me, it takes several shampoos and vigorous massaging to get the product out. So, wash thoroughly.
I will purchase this bleach again and again. It truly does miracles on your hair."

Pros: no strong smell, bright colors hold better
"Before I thought that what bleach you used didn't matter and only bought this because I needed a bigger quantity and it was cheap. How I was wrong. I dye my hair bright colors and this bleach barerly does any damage and doesn't burn. The bright color actually stays longer on my roots when usually it would fade with the rest of my hair. I regret I didn't use this before."

Works great, none of the typical problems

Pros: smells good, very little damage to hair, doesn't burn
"I have been dying my hair red for a while and wanted to go to a light brown for the summer. The only way I was going to get enough of the red out was to bleach it so I picked up the Ion powder lightener after reading all the great reviews on here. The reviews were spot on and it worked wonderfully. I got my hair to a light neon orange with very little damage and was able to dye over it with a medium ash brown (also an Ion product) and the red is all but gone. Great bleach with a nice smell and no major damage to the hair. Definitely pick up this product if you want to keep the condition of your hair."

Only bleach I'll ever use again!
Date:June 6, 2012
Pros: very little damaging, smells great!, works fast
Cons: burns scalp a little
"I've tried different bleaches in the past and my favorite was Kaliedcolors but I've tried this one recently and it is way better! It leaves my hair almost white blonde, smells great, & works fast. Of course it's going to be a little damaging and it might burn your scalp a little but that's what happens when you use any bleach. It's the best one, well, it works for me. Highly recommended! I like to use it with Pure White Developer (20% - 30%)."

Excellent buy!

Pros: smells good, great price
"Used with 30 vol developer to pre-lighten before adding ion color brilliance sky blue to my partner's hair, and was VERY pleased with the result. I tried one bleach before, and it STANK... smelled like very strong relaxer if you know that smell, and had me gagging. This one smelled great, and it kind of turned into a stiff foam, which prevented any dripping. I was still careful, but I didn't have to worry about getting any in my partner's eyes, clothes, or all over my floor. We conditioned for 10 minutes before adding color, and her hair feels healthy, soft and smooth, NO sticky, straw feeling like with the previous bleach."
